Panel Cites Surge in Speculative Oil Trades

Speculative traders’ interest in oil accounts for about 70% of all trading in West Texas Intermediate crude on the Nymex, compared with 37% in 2000. The surge in oil-futures speculation was cited as Congress gears up to craft limits.
